Ben Roethlisberger has been released from Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh under the cover of darkness last night.
Such a secretive escape was necessary as to slip underneath the radar of the Chunky Soup Curse as it might have been sleeping.
The hospital confirmed this morning that Roethlisberger has indeed been released from the hospital and is now at home resting and, for the moment, safe from the evil clutches of the Chunky Soup Curse.
He has issued a statement today, the first time he has spoken out to the pubic about his injury.
He stated, "In the past few days, I have gained a new perspective on life. By the grace of God, I am fortuneate to be alive, surrounded by loved ones and lifted by the prayers and support of so many. I am sorry for any anxiety and concern my actions have caused others, specifically my family, the Steelers organization, my teammates and our fans.
"I recognize that I have a responsibility to safeguard my health in the offseason, and participating in a Chunky Soup commercial put everything at risk. I simply believed that the curse was not real and a complete coincidence. I will certainly think twice next time. Knowing this, I want to issue a challenge to the Chunky Soup Curse. The gloves are off, bitch, the fight is on. You got me by your terms and next time it will be by mine. You won't know the time, nor the place, but rest assured, vengeance will be mine."
There are no plans in the near future for Roethlisberger to make a public appearance.
